JD Gonzalez was born and raised in Laredo and attended United High School. This city isn't a talking point for him — it's the place that shaped him, where he learned the value of hard work and where he chose to build his life.
A Life of Service
JD served ten years in the United States Navy and was recognized as Sailor of the Year. Service taught him accountability: you complete the mission, you take care of your people, and you don't make excuses.
Building a Business
After the Navy, JD came home and built a career and a business in Laredo. He knows what it takes to meet a payroll, keep customers, and solve problems when nobody is coming to solve them for you.
30+ Years of Experience
For more than three decades, JD has worked in business, customs, and international trade. He has built longstanding relationships throughout the industries that move billions of dollars through Laredo, and he understands exactly what businesses weigh when they decide where to invest and grow.
Son of Immigrants
JD is the son of Mexican immigrants. His parents came here with very little and gave everything they had so their children could have more. That's not a résumé line — it's the reason he believes so strongly that opportunity in Laredo should be built, protected, and passed on.
Giving Back
JD didn't come from politics or old money. Laredo gave him opportunity. Now he wants to help create that same opportunity for the next generation — with the experience to actually get it done.
